Our business is based on cooperation with selected laying hen farms located in rural areas, which meet quality standards developed by Farmio.

We cooperate with farms on the basis of our stringent Farmio’s quality policy whose main elements include the requirement to provide hens with non-GMO feed and test eggs for antibiotics in an independent certified lab.

Quality guarantee

Egg packing facility - quality and safety

In order to provide our customers with safe, high-quality products, Farmio strives to eliminate faulty products, also during the egg packing stage.

The final product, i.e. a freshly laid egg, is transferred to the packing facility via an automated belt conveyor system. As the egg moves from the henhouse to the final packaging unit, it is visually sorted and checked for dirt and cracks. Next, a specialist “crack inspector” analyses the shell structure to detect flaws invisible to a human eye. After that, eggs are conveyed to a UV tunnel for disinfection eliminating 100% of such bacteria as: Salmonella, E. Coli, and other microorganisms that might be present on the shell. Finally, an automated sorting process is implemented to weigh the eggs and direct them to the correct track programmed to a specific weight, label them with a veterinary number and place in unit packages.

The advantage of such a computer-controlled system is the fact that an egg does not come into contact with humans or external allergens from the moment it is laid until it is packed.

Natural and safe - as confirmed by recognised certificates

“You are what you eat”, as the saying goes... There no research on the effects of GMOs on the human body, but there are many scientific publications indicating possible negative effects of genetically modified foods on the health of animals fed with them. While such a huge variety of foodstuffs are available on the market, everyone should be able to make an informed choice of food based on non-GMO production.

We believe that natural products are best for people and their health. Our mission is to produce natural, non-GMO food.

GMOs are genetically modified organisms whose genetic code has been artificially altered through the use of human-invented genetic engineering. Such modifications are never encountered in the natural environment. Genetic modifications involving introduction of a gene from another species into a plant organism spark most intense controversy. This is how “transgenic plants” resistant to chemicals used in large amounts for their cultivation are created. Transgenic crops produce the grains used to produce human food and livestock feed. Spraying plants with large amounts of chemicals additionally causes environmental contamination.

Actually, the Polish law mandates producers to label food products containing GM ingredients, however, there is an apparent loophole in the legislation which means that food products derived from animals fed with GM feed, such as laying hens, are not covered by this requirement (1). It may be questionable as GM soya and maize are commonly used for animal (cattle, pigs and poultry) feed production.

The impact of genetically modified food on the human body has not yet been studied, but in the light of analyses and experiments to date, a risk of potential hazards is clearly perceived. Despite the fact that GM products are approved for marketing, we believe that people and animals benefit immensely from natural ingredients and non-GMO food. Therefore, we give consumers the opportunity to make an informed choice of food that has been produced using non-GMO feed. We also intend to provide them with relevant, in our opinion, information concerning GMO, based on scientific publications and research results.

Farmio introduced the very first additional testing programme for antibiotics in egg composition in Poland, implemented in cooperation with an independent, accredited analytical lab.

Why are our eggs tested for antibiotics?

We know that antibiotic residues in food are one of the issues that strongly concern the modern society. We strive to provide products with controlled high quality.

ADDITIONALLY TESTED FOR ANTIBIOTICS programme:

1. Sampling eggs on a farm

To ensure compliance with the requirements specified by the lab, egg samples are taken regularly on all farms we cooperate with.

2. Analysing samples in accredited labs

Samples are analysed in an accredited lab as per international procedures used for testing for antibiotics in food products.

3. Result analysis

Within a few days of receiving the samples, the lab returns the results of the analyses performed. These results confirm Farmio egg safety.

Our eggs have been tested since the very beginning of the Farmio brand, and no test results have so far indicated prohibited presence of antibiotics in Farmio eggs.

We cooperate wit the J.S. Hamilton analytical laboratory accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation.
