Supreme
poultry
quality

The quality of meat offered is closely related to animals’ welfare, so the Farmio poultry processing plants (Poultry Company Farmio) implement their strict quality strategy on each and every level of the production process.

Our quality- and
safety related expectations

The Poultry Company Farmio cooperates with carefully selected farms remaining under constant veterinary supervision. Farms are also inspected by the Farmio Contracting Department specialists.

Farms must comply with the “Five freedoms” breeding principle:

  • freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition by providing access to fresh water and food to keep animals strong and healthy
  • freedom from discomfort
  • freedom from pain, injury and disease
  • freedom from fear and distress
  • freedom to express normal behaviour

Experience our poultry quality assurance policy.

Breeding

At the breeding stage, the conditions in which the animals are housed, including space, feed quality, temperature, lighting, substrate cleanliness and disinfection, etc., are of vital importance. Breeders are inspected by a team of animal technicians overseeing animal welfare and bio-safety.

Transport

Livestock is transported by specialist companies ensuring all required conditions. All carriers (supplying animals to a plant) are trained and certified as required.

Control

People responsible for accepting deliveries and sending them to slaughter facilities constantly monitor the welfare of the animals and take steps to ensure that they stay in the most humane conditions possible.

Production

The Poultry Company Farmio operates one of the most cutting-edge poultry processing plants in Poland. Our goal is to be a forerunner of modern, cost-effective and high-quality solutions.

Certification

Our Company Management and Food Safety Systems comply with the requirements and standards of international certifications, including BRC, IFS i QS.

Distribution

Ready-made products, both fresh and frozen, are transported by specialised shipping companies whose vehicles are equipped with refrigerator/freezer trailers. The product transport temperature is constantly monitored to ensure cold chain continuity.

Our certificates

In order to confirm the high quality of Farmio products, independent certifying bodies conduct audits at all stages of our processes related to animal breeding and food marketing.

Quality
in the area
of eggs

The quality of eggs purchased by a consumer is closely related to the feed quality, so Farmio offers eggs laid by hens fed with non-GMO feeds and additionally tested for antibiotics.

Our quality- and
safety related expectations

We cooperate with breeders on the basis of our stringent Farmio’s quality policy whose main elements include the requirement to provide hens with non-GMO feed and test eggs for antibiotics in an independent certified lab.

Our control system raises the bar and goes beyond the prevailing standards in the industry to give us and consumers the assurance of highest quality product provision:

  • ongoing quality monitoring
  • constant Farmio Quality Control Department personnel’s supervision over laying hen flocks
  • cooperation with carefully selected farms meeting all Farmio’s requirements

Experience our egg quality assurance policy.

Breeding

We cooperate with carefully selected laying hen farms in which Farmio eggs are produced in separated hen houses. The hens are provided with optimal breeding conditions, including constant access to fresh water and feed, adequate temperature, humidity and illumination.

Feed

The livestock feed must be correctly balanced, i.e. rich in nutrients, minerals and vitamins. It does not contain any genetically modified ingredients. It is constantly checked for quality to ensure that the our hens are healthy and consumers receive wholesome and safe eggs.

Production

Both the egg production and packing processes comply with applicable regulations and good production practices. Laying hens are subjected to veterinary checks. Our packaging and labelling conform to applicable EU regulations.

Distribution

Eggs are customised and packed immediately after they are laid. Next, they are transported directly to our clients (mostly retail chain warehouses). The process of laying the eggs and transporting them out of our plants takes usually not more than 24 hours.

Control

Quality is controlled at every stage of the production process - starting with a feed composition analysis, breeding conditions and hen welfare, through final product testing, as well as the conditions in which the eggs are transported to the customer's warehouse.

Independent product testing to support and complement the state inspection authorities’ actions ensuring safety of marketed products is a key element of the Farmio’s quality control programme.

“You are what you eat”, as the saying goes... There no research on the effects of GMOs on the human body, but there are many scientific publications indicating possible negative effects of genetically modified foods on the health of animals fed with them. While such a huge variety of foodstuffs are available on the market, everyone should be able to make an informed choice of food based on non-GMO production.

We believe that natural products are best for people and their health. Our mission is to produce natural, non-GMO food.

GMOs are genetically modified organisms whose genetic code has been artificially altered through the use of human-invented genetic engineering. Such modifications are never encountered in the natural environment. Genetic modifications involving introduction of a gene from another species into a plant organism spark most intense controversy. This is how “transgenic plants” resistant to chemicals used in large amounts for their cultivation are created. Transgenic crops produce the grains used to produce human food and livestock feed. Spraying plants with large amounts of chemicals additionally causes environmental contamination.

Actually, the Polish law mandates producers to label food products containing GM ingredients, however, there is an apparent loophole in the legislation which means that food products derived from animals fed with GM feed, such as laying hens, are not covered by this requirement (1). It may be questionable as GM soya and maize are commonly used for animal (cattle, pigs and poultry) feed production.

The impact of genetically modified food on the human body has not yet been studied, but in the light of analyses and experiments to date, a risk of potential hazards is clearly perceived. Despite the fact that GM products are approved for marketing, we believe that people and animals benefit immensely from natural ingredients and non-GMO food. Therefore, we give consumers the opportunity to make an informed choice of food that has been produced using non-GMO feed. We also intend to provide them with relevant, in our opinion, information concerning GMO, based on scientific publications and research results.

(1) Act of 22 June 2001 on genetically modified organisms

GMOs exert their impact practically on each of us. Products containing genetically modified ingredients can be found in virtually every shop and we, consumers, often unknowingly buy and consume them. It is worth familiarising yourself with the issue of GMOs so that you know what genetically modified food is and how you can make informed choices.

GMOs are genetically modified organisms whose genetic code has been artificially altered through the use of genetic engineering.

Such modifications are never encountered in the natural environment. Genetic modifications involving introduction of a gene from another species into a plant organism spark most intense controversy. This is how “transgenic plants” used, for example, to produce human food and livestock feed are created.

Actions taken by Farmio SA to ensure top product quality:

•    Total production process control

The Quality Control Department personnel control every stage of the egg production process, from the feed composition, through the age of the laying hen flocks, their breeding conditions, final product handling, to packing, storage and transport to the retail chain warehouses. We also systematically conduct documentation checks on farms, sensory evaluation of eggs, marking, etc.

Farms cooperating with Farmio have:

- own growing houses
- own feed mixing facilities
- egg packing facilities
- own means of transport and logistic solutions

•    Egg testing for antibiotics and salmonella

To ensure compliance with the Quality Farm certificate maintained by the Agro Eko certifying body, egg samples from each farm are systematically tested for antibiotics and salmonella. The tests are performed by the renowned J.S. Hamilton laboratory holding a wide range of accreditations.
We are utterly convinced that Farmio eggs are probably the best tested eggs available on the Polish market.

•    Farmio eggs are packed in extruded boxes labelled with the FSC mark guaranteeing that the product comes from sustainably managed forests.

The raw material used in their manufacture is recycled and 100% recyclable, so the packaging is fully CO2 neutral and biodegradable.
The Farmio egg packaging paper stock also offers the advantage of reducing the risk of condensation on the eggshell, as the raw material from which it is made absorbs moisture and act as an additional protective layer.
